    It was no substitute for the main paths, but then again, those were dangerous anyway.

    Just because it was no substitute does not mean it had no quality. Sure, one could not take a bycicle the way they were going, but this path was better untouched by civilization. The trees lazily stood, tall and unbroken amongst the unusual hilly landscape. Moss covered stones slept just at the surface of the earth, while beautiful grasses shimmered in the clearings. Birds sang in the air for miles, none growing silent upon their aproach, as they were unafraid of Fennix and Toden contact.

    The sunbeams danced through the leaves and sprinkled amongst the grass, which left no signs of their step upon it, so quick was it to spring back up. A man could have walked through here and no one would have known.

    Then it became silent. The boys knew enough about nature that any quiet like this means something fearsome is nearby. The Fennix boy, Tuumes, brought out his weapon, A peculiar object in some ways a sword, but in others something entirely different, and began screening the forest.

    His Todden friend, Cyoo, summoned fire and began doing likewise. Perhaps his was the advantage in this scenario, as beasts, no matter how fearsome, were generally afraid of fire.

    Neither of them saw the scaled hand, attached to fur covered arm, reach out and patiently grab hold of a nearby trunk. Something dark and infectious wanted to add them to its number.


For your future reference, look at this picture (maybe even read the description) and listen to this music to get an idea* of what Centurion is. I would probably make my own music for this story later, but I haven't done anything yet.
